Tip #4
Low Energy, Low Company Performance

If a company is on a downward trend, many business owners think they can bring their companies back from a valuation that doesn’t meet their expectations.  But it takes energy that many business owners no longer have.  Very few companies can make that leap back to new heights without a strong drive, vision and leadership from the owner.  Sometimes it’s best to recognize the reality of the situation and exit the business before it continues to go downhill.

Tip #5
Burned Out?

Too many business owners have operated their companies for too long and have lost their interest or drive.  When the owner feels that way, the business can flounder and stop growing.   Not only do revenues and profits suffer, but the value of the company goes downhill.  When a business owner hits burnout, it is in his or her best interest to take action and put the business on the market.

Tip #6
Health Issues Must Be Addressed!

One of the saddest and most difficult situations for a business is when the owner becomes too ill to effectively manage the business.  Unfortunately, because many owners haven't done proper planning, they try to continue to run their businesses while trying to cope with their illnesses.  The owner suffers and the business suffers.  If a business owner becomes aware of a serious illness, he or she must not ignore the fact that each day that the business hasn't been sold can drive the value down.

Tip #7
Employees Are Known to Create Stress!

Employees are obviously critical to the success of many businesses, but they can also create many challenges and stress for business owners.   It can take tremendous energy, patience and wisdom to manage a workforce.  When a business owner can no longer deal with difficult employee issues, the success and value of the business can suffer.  And if that is happening, it might be time for the business owner to consider selling the company and move on to a less stressful life.
